Now I have my little friend 8 weeks, for a detailed attitude report still much too early. Nevertheless one can report for the attitude of this, as I find, lovely co-inhabitant in the reef aquarium.
.
Which I did not hear everything as I reported I have a puffer fish, a Canthigaster papua, for my reef aquarium bought. „Well however your corals to be pleased there“ and „considered you that well “, were the first questions and remarks of my aquarium friends. Yes absolutly,I would like to have my small spotted sharpnose friend. I had myself very thoroughly prepared, much in the InterNet investigated.. I was prepared.
First of all the fodder question was to be clarified. Since I already give eh three until four times the week frost fodder, alternating mix from fine and rough Krill as well as Artemia and Mysis, if I assumed that, if he went to "dead" fodder, he became in no case hunger, I feed plentifully. In addition I have many small cancers eg. in my reef aquarium, so that he would find some food also here.
1.7.2006 Canthigaster papua drew in into my reef aquarium. I thought my Doctorfish, particularly my Ctenochaetus strigosus, the newcomer would attack, it was not as feared, it ignored it directly. That remained until today in such a way. Also he hid not, was and is to be seen nearly all day long. It is to be searched over day in all reef structures for "food". That he finds in the reef also fodder can see quite good, he is fast grown. In the meantime it looks well fed. It ignored frost fodder, likewise Artemia. I added more and more frozen Artemia to the living fodder and frozen Artemia was taken more frequently. Today it eats everything. Corals, here exclusive Small Polyp Stony likes he indeed to eat, the warning was already correctly. At soft corals i could never see him. I saw biting it so far only once into a Sinularia, leave quite tidy gaps in the coral. The wound healed very fast and until today I no further bite wounds to mine soft corals found. Urchins likes my small friend also as FOOD. Two of my Urchins did not survive the attacks of my Canthigaster solandri. It bites them each day a little more from the pricks, the Urchin lost sometime. It ignores my Cleaner Shrimp and Sea Stars, naturally it likes Sea Slugs very gladly.
As the first result is to say....I am very contently with my small friend and at any time again i would buy a Canthigaster papua for my aquarium.
